Use: GI  lipase inhibitor. Weight control in adults with BMI >30, in conjunction with low fat, calorie controlled diet. You can calculate your BMI with this BMI calculator

Contraindication: Chronic malabsorption; cholestasis; pregnacy & lactation.

Precaution: Monitor fat intake; type 2 diabete; pregnancy, children<18 years.

Adverse: Gastrointesinal disturbance incl oily stools and spotting, flatus with discharge, faecal urgency and incontinence, Rare: hypersensitivity reactions; others, see full PI.

Interactions: Cyclosporin; oral anticoagulant; amiodarone (possible); vitamins (within 2 hours).

Patient Information: take capsule with each main meal (or within 1 hour of meal). Multivitamins should be taken at least 2 hours after orlistat or at bedtime. Adhere to dietary guidelines. If a meal is missed, the dose of orlistat may be omitted.

Dose: 120mg 3 times daliy.
