Pacific Atenolol 50mg AND 100mg tablet ALL BATCHES recall to patient level |

7 June 2010 Mylan NZ is recalling ALL BATCHES of Pacific Atenolol 50mg AND 100mg tablets to consumer level. Underweight tablets have been identified in bottles of different batches of both strengths, in addition to the previously identified overweight Pacific Atenolol 50mg tablets. Pharmacy staff are asked to immediately quarantine all stock of Pacific Atenolol to prevent further use. Then to return the stock and completed inventory form as directed in the fax received from Mylan. Free replacement stock of Atenolol tablets USP is being sent by urgent courier to every pharmacy.
The recall will be advertised in newspapers. When replacement stock is received Mylan asks pharmacists to please contact patients they have dispensed Pacific Atenolol 50mg and 100mg tablets to since 1 January 2010 and ask them to return their remaining tablets to the pharmacy for a free replacement as soon as possible. Patients should be advised to continue to take their medicine until they can visit the pharmacy for a replacement. However, they should not take a larger or smaller sized tablet if one is found.
