18 November 2009 Merck and Schering-Plough are leaders for specialised products in a broad range of areas, including cardiology, infectious diseases, diabetes, respiratory, vaccines, women's health and animal health, and are also focused on expanding offerings in other areas, such as neurology, oncology and dermatology. They are building new strength in categories such as biologics, to pursue our goal of saving and improving lives around the world. Merck have now completed the merger of its two companies in the United States. The combined company will be called "Merck" in the United States and Merck Sharp & Dohme (New Zealand) will use the brand "MSD" in New Zealand. Merck's New Zealand managing director quoted the following "we remain committed to our work in New Zealand and our focus remains continuing to support you. Our operations will remain as they were before the merger and we believe this presents an exciting opportunity for the company" |
