Apo-Clopidogrel, the generic brand for Plavix 75mg is fully subsidsed on the first September 2008. Plavix, is still fully subsided till further notice from Pharmac. Clopidogrel, is widely use for the prevention of interruption of blood supply to heart muscle or referred by medical terms as Prevention of vascular ischaemia associated with atherothrombotic events (MI, stroke and vascular death) in patients with a history of symptomatic atherosclerotic disease.

Essentially,there will be two brands of Clopidogrel in the pharmacy market in September 2008, so let your pharmacist know which brand you or your doctor prefers. Some prescriptions may have "Substituition Not Permitted" so your pharmacist will be obliged to dispensed what is written.
