| Condoms Galore but what brands is available? |
|
8 October 2008 The world of condoms has just become very exciting in community pharmacies throughout New Zealand because Pharmac has decided to list more variety of condoms in the pharmaceutical schedule. The fully funded list looks fairly decent now but a little confusing for pharmacists and dispensary staff as we have to get used to flicking in and out of the schedule when we get asked "what's available?". Previously there were only Durex Confidence (most Popular), Ansells Lifestyles and Gold knight but now the list of fully funded condoms includes Durex Confidence 56mm shaped Gold Knight 49mm-55 mm ( also flavoured choices of Strawberry and Chocolate) Gold Knight Extra Strength Shield XL 60mm (very large condoms) Ansells Lifestyles Flared 54mm shaped Marquis Sensolite (Ultra thin condoms) 52mm Marquis Selecta (Flavoured condoms, Strawberry, Vanilla, chocolate and banana) 52 mm Marquis Supalite (standard) 52mm non-flavoured Marquis Conforma (Extra Large) 55mm Marquis Tantaliza (Snug fitting) 49mm Marquis Titillata (Textured ribbed and dotted surface) 53mm Marquis Black (Flared Black) 53mm Marquis Protecta (Extra Strength) 52mm Each prescription allows you to get 144 condoms maximum as long as it states 3 months supply. Some pharmacy may need to get in the brand you want as you can appreciate these are bulky items to store in our some what smaller dispensary. There are no subsidised spermicidal condoms available but you can get your health professional to prescribed nonoxynol-9 spermicidal agents such as Ortho Gel and Gyno-II. |
