15 February 2010 Most of the currently available antipsychotics in use in NZ, have the side effects of QT interval prolongation, so patient have a risk of sudden cardiac death. Some popular antipsychotics includes: Clinicians are recommended to avoid these in patients with clinically significant cardiac disorders and a history of ventricular arrhythmia or family history. Close monitoring with ECG is necessary for patients with increase risk factors.
