MAGNIFICENT MAGNESIUM

  1. Magnesium is a mineral already low in NZ soil. It’s needed for over 300 different functions in the body and is often removed out of the body in higher amounts when we are stressed, anxious or drinking high sugar or high caffeine beverages like coffee.

Zinc is another mineral that many people at different stages in their life are deficient (low) in.

What do we need Zinc for? What disorders are linked to low zinc status?

It is needed for healthy immune system function in order to help our body fight infections. It is an essential antioxidant. If you are constantly battling flu’s and cold, or suffer from infertility, try adding a zinc supplement.

Deficiencies of zinc are linked to:

    1. Infertility in males and females;Healthy sperm contains very high amounts of zinc.
    2. Rough Skin
    3. Decreased appetite
    4. Stretch marks as zinc is needed to maintain healthy skin and connective tissue
    5. Slow wound healing
    6. High Blood Cholesterol levels
    7. Loss of periods (amenorrhea)
    8. Gum inflammation
    9. Hair loss
    10. Needed by diabetics to help regulate normal blood sugar levels. It’s helpful also for those who have dips in energy resulting from low blood sugar levels.
    11. Acne, teenage and adult. Zinc is used up easily in growing teens.
    12. Often sore hips and knee joints can be improved by increasing zinc levels. As high amounts of zinc are normally present in these areas.
    13. Suffering from constant fungal infections on the skin
    14. Zinc is involved with taste and smell. To test zinc levels we have a Zinc taste test which involves taking 10 mls of liquid zinc and assessing the taste. This is a free test at Bradburns Value pharmacy for a limited time only.
    15. Low dosages of Zinc can be taken for 2-3 month periods.

Do not take high levels of zinc for long periods of time

White spots on nails are linked to low zinc levels (among other deficiencies).
